Choke Trailer Makes Me Gag

I keep seeing this ad on the internet and every time I see it, I cringe.  I have not read the novel, so I don't know the content of the film other than what I have seen from the preview. I almost wish the movie was about a giant who eats people and not a middle-aged man's sex life.

Any other thoughts about this image?

I've seen that trailer several times in the last week, and my visceral sense of disgust at seeing the movie poster image has left me unable to judge the trailer in an unbiased way. I haven't read the novel, but the trailer basically tells us that the protagonist is an asshole, and I'm pretty tired of the asshole-guy-we-don't-even-care-about-meets-sweet-girl-and-is-reformed kind of movie.

By the picture alone, I would not read the book or watch the movie. All I need to know is right there: women as objects, women as things, of course the woman is wearing high heels, the man is depicted as huge compared to her, etc.

I have a lot of thoughts on Chuck Palunuck. His hipster-mysoginism seems to really appeal to working class white guys who feel like they're being scrued and therefore kick their sexism up a notch to feel powerful.

I for one, will be seeing the movie so that i can tear it to pieces. however, i understand that not everyone can subject themselves to watching violence against women.

I read the novel. Not that good, first of all, because it has the same plot arc as every novel written by good ol' Chuck. Essentially, the main character is a sex addict. He tends to have sex with other sex addicts. He hates his mother, but he loves his mother, because she is crazy. If I remember correctly.

No, like really....this ad really BUGS me! I saw a guy reading Choke with this cover and I wanted to go over and talk to him about it. Makes me think of how much I dislike Bukowski

I am so glad someone else said something! I saw this ad back in July and I was truly disturbed. I had no idea what the book or movie was about the time, but now having read a lengthy review I think the ad is even more offensive.

ah, i watched the trailer, i watched it without sound because i don't have speakers. I have to say though, this film looks kind of dumb.i can live my whole life whithout seeing it. And i also think writers and directers do thses kinds of films because people crave for that kind of thing, what i mean, people will get a kick out of it either way if they're offended by it or if they laugh out loud. That's the point.
